Goalkeeper Moves Goal Posts! Literally!

Football fans around the world were stunned when they saw an unbelievable sight of a goalkeeper actually moving the goal posts to his advantage in the Swedish top football league. Kim Christensen, a Danish football player who plays for IFK Gothenburg, was seen on camera kicking the side posts to slightly reduce the target area at the start of a crucial Allsvenskan division match, the equivalent of English Premier League in England.

Birmingham City FC

It was 1875 in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, when a small group of cricketers from Holy Church started a Club called the Small Heath Alliance. The club’s 1st ground was leased off a family named Gressey. Then later in 1888 the Club came to be known as just Small Heath.

The Most Surprising Soccer Transfer of the Season

While some big name transfers such as Cristiano Ronaldo’s move from Manchester United to Real Madrid finally came to their expected conclusions, one transfer caught my eye this season. That of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s move from Italian champions Inter Milan to Spanish and Champions League winners Barcelona, with Samuel Eto’o going the opposite direction.

Football Transfer Ethics Under Scrutiny

The debate about the transfer of under-18 players, while raging at football administration level for some time, was finally brought to the public attention in the past week following Chelsea’s heavy sanction by FIFA. The London club’s two window transfer ban for inducing Gael Kakuta to leave Lens for England is perhaps the first shot in a war that is being incited by continental European clubs enraged principally by the actions of England’s major teams. At the heart of the debate are complex issues of youth employment, contracts, players’ rights and predatory clubs.
