I first fell in love with soccer (or football as most of the world knows it) when I was about 4 or 5 years old. My parents got me into a soccer club and the love for the sport was born. I remember very vividly early morning games, oranges at half time and the odd trip to McDonald’s after the game.

FA Cup Final - Chelsea Vs Everton

The development of a soccer player is the process of properly training and teaching a young boy or girl the game of soccer. Unfortunately, this process is often a secondary objective with coaches, as they place primary emphasis on winning matches. This focus on winning may make a good soccer player in the short run, but over the long term puts a player at a disadvantage by not teaching the fundamentals of the game.
